5A Monster Of A CPU For Gaming...
By Crafter
I finished my new Kaby Lake build 2 weeks ago using this new 7700K. I have it paired with an MSI Z270 Gaming M7 motherboard, 32GB Corsair Dominator SE 3200mhz (Cas14) Memory, Intel 600p NVMe M.2 Boot Drive, EVGA GTX 1080 FTW Hybrid, and finally being cooled with a Corsair H115i. Everything installed perfectly along with drivers and software, and all the hardware plays seamlessly together.

I retired my 5 year old Ivy Bridge i5 3570K that was running at 4.5ghz, and this has been a significant upgrade for gaming. I have this 7700K clocked currently at 4.9ghz, with 1.32V. and XMP enabled. This chip doesn't even break a sweat at this speed. Even under full 100% load in the Intel torture test software, temps haven't exceeded 70C. But just keep in mind, I'm running an H115i cooler with Corsair ML140 fans. Your results may vary depending on your cooling solution.
I'll echo what others have stated in other reviews here and other sites, if you're already on a Skylake CPU, going with a Kaby Lake wouldn't be much of an upgrade....unless you're simply looking for higher overclocking potential (which is certainly here with these new CPUs). Most people doing new builds with these Kaby Lake chips are coming from older Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge builds.

If you're considering building a new gaming PC, this is the CPU to get right now. It is extremely fast, and over clocks like a champ while still maintaining relatively cool temps.

51337 marks: I won the Silicon Lottery! Easy 5 Ghz overclock.
By Keith Kimber
I won the Silicon Lottery with the purchase of this processor. This processor is running at 5.174 Ghz on all four cores. 5.373 Ghz for 3 cores. Single and dual core clock speed is at 5.572 Ghz. That is with a cache ratio/multiplier of 46 at a 99.5 Mhz bclk. My 3DMark Time Spy score with this CPU and the rest of my rig is 7001. My 7700k + GTX 1070 is as fast as the average 7700k + 1080 rig.

My i7-7700k CPU easily hits 5 Ghz. It can hit it in so many ways that finding its peak overclock speed was actually a chore. I've been building PCs and overclocking them since the 90's, and I can honestly say that this is my best buy so far. I don't say that lightly, because I am aware of the Celeron 300A's, but my celly300a didn't OC for crap. Considering that the 7700k is specced for a max turbo of 4.5, I really can't complain for hitting a Ghz higher on two cores, and being able to run all four cores 1 Ghz higher than the 4.2 Ghz this CPU is specced at.

Here is my build iff you want to construct a rig like mine and see if you have the same mileage:
CPU: i7-7700k
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 (stock fans replaced with 4x Corsair ML120)
Mobo: Asus Z270-Plus
RAM: 32 Gb (2 x16) Corsair LPX DDR4-3200
GPU: EVGA GTX 1070 FTW Hybrid
SSD #1: 500Gb Samsung 960 Evo
SSD #2: 512GB Intel 600p
Case: Coolermaster N200 Micro ATX
PS: Rosewill Hive 550W

5If money is not a problem, THIS IS THE ONE!
By Sami
THIS THING IS A BEAST. if you want a processor that is future-proofed, then this is the way to go. make sure you pair this with a powerful GPU, and you'll be cruising games on ultra. And don't forget VR, which this processor shouldn't have a problem handling.
