5Comes with external power cable, which you'll need for a Macbook Pro
By P. Katz
I bought this to connect my Macbook Pro to a Dell VGA LCD display. The adapter comes with a USB power cable and an audio cable. I didn't realize it at first, but the power cable is a great feature of this adapter because some HDMI equipment (like my Macbook) doesn't provide the voltage necessary to power the active circuitry in the adapter. That circuitry is needed to convert digital HDMI signals to analog VGA. As I did not appreciate this important fact, I was surprised when the display did not work with the Macbook. I then tried using the adapter to connect the HDMI output on an XBOX to the Dell display and that did work. Ignorantly thinking there was something wrong with the adapter, I posted a review to that effect and was immediately contacted by the manufacturer, VicTsing, instructing me to just use the USB power cable on the Macbook. Sure enough, that worked great! A little research (which I should have done before posting my first review) indicated that external power is indeed required for converting HDMI to VGA on a Macbook Pro. My research also revealed that a better choice for a Macbook Pro would be a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, which does not require external power. I'm impressed that the manufacturer reached out to me to solve my problem. If I decide to get a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, I'll look for one by VicTsing.

5So easy to use, does exactly what its supposed to!
By FireMedic
There is not really much you can say about this, except it does exactly what it is supposed to do. You can hook up a laptop that has HDMI connections to say a projector that does not, at least that is what I use it for. I teach at a college that is well funded, so that have a projector in every classroom. However, due to bad oversight or poor planning or just whatever, those systems do not hook up to my laptop which is HDMI and their fantastic system runs only VGA. Of course, I could just use their system, but with this very cheap little piece, I can hook right into my laptop and not have to move everything over to their computer. It just makes my life so much easier.

5Saved my friend from having to buy a new laptop.
By lighten_up_already2
I bought this cable along with the "Ugreen VGA/SVGA HD15 Male to Male Video Coaxial Monitor Cable with Ferrite Cores Gold Plated Compatible for Projectors, HDTVs, Displays, 3ft/1m " and gave it along with a spare monitor to a friend who recently had the LCD display break on her new laptop. The display costs as much to replace as buying a new laptop, so her machine seemed like a total loss.

But she used this adapter with the cable described above, and she told me the monitor works great. So now she can continue to use her new laptop and doesn't need to buy a new one.
