Works Great for RaspberryPi!
Very Nice Product! This adapter worked great right out of the box. Hooking up my RaspberryPi B+ to an older 15in VGA only monitor saved me from buying another new monitor. I wasn't too sure how to power it through the USB. Thought I might need another USB power supply, so I tried first plugging it in on one of the USB's on the RasPi. Worked like a charm! I plan on trying this adapter on a C.H.I.P $9 computer and a PINE64 $15 dollar computer that I'm backing on KickStarter. These old monitors are being thrown away every day, so one could pick up a few like I did at a garage sale. I bought 4 monitors from a couple different garage sales for a grand total of $15...
The little keyboard worked just fine on the first try also. It is a Rii Mini Wireless 2.4GHz Keyboard with Mouse Touchpad that I also bought here for $17.
I have not tried this adapter on anything else but the RaspberryPi, so I can't say how it will work. If it works as good as it does on the RasPi
then it is well worth the money
I highly recommend it for the RaspberryPi !!

With both USB and audio ports, this little adapter is my first choice.
There are many versions of these HDMI to VGA adapters, some of them work and some of them don't work. I think it has to do with the version of HDMI (1.3 or 1.4) that you have and of course, whether or not you can obtain power from the HDMI interface. The Rankie adapter comes with an USB plug for power (no USB cable included BTW), so you can plug in to your PC (or an external 5V power adapter, like a standard phone charger) if you needed the additional power, which is a must if you ask me. I mean once you plug in to your monitor and nothing comes up, short of a dead monitor, you'll probably need to use the usb for power.
In addition to the usb port, it also has an audio jack for 3.5mm stereo, which is a good feature because if you are using a monitor (obviously not a TV) to display, you probably don't have speakers built-in, and this feature just gives you more flexibility.
All in all I think this is is a nice little device. I've tried it on my old 1024x768 monitor and on my 1920x1080 monitor, used on Apple TV, on my Asus Laptop, and on an Android TV box, and they are performed to my satisfaction. This is one of those things that you want to set it and forget it, and I have to say this little adapter does that in spades.

Awesome - Includes Cables
Includes the USB stubby power cable and 3.5 audio cable. Tested great and the stubby USB cable is the perfect length without a lot extra cable to deal with. I didn't test the audio patch cable (this is for a server rack). Works great converting HDMI to VGA (active). I can mix multiple computers/servers with VGA and HDMI and use the same KMV to swap between the boxes. Best solution to date I've found for HDMI to VGA.
