5Creates Fantastic Viewing Experience
By Randy
I wanted a bright, full screen projection for seminar participants. The Epson PowerLite 1771W fulfilled all my expectations. It's small and compact for a road warrior, and wonderful to view. As I walked down the hall and looked into conference rooms during PMI Mega SeminarsWorld, most screens were partly filled and dull. Our room was in marked contrast with a beautiful display.

5Portable powerhouse
By Philip Branson
Truly portable. Bright enough for good presentations in normal office light. Fits in my laptop bag with my laptop. Simple USB connection. Plugged it in, turned it on and was immediately ready to go. Same quality and brightness as much larger units. Just over 1" thick. Lens cover slides back, stays in the case.

3Epson Powerlite 1761W projector from Amazon
By Mrs. May I
First KUDOS to AMAZON!
I paid $699 which is the price that came up when I did a search by item name. Two days later, I'm researching set up and see a price on CNET. The exact item is now $664.69 That would ordinarily NOT make me a happy Amazon buyer, except that when I called Amazon, they refunded the difference. Way to go, Amazon!

As to the projector itself: Wireless setup is a pain and instructions overall are confusing. I bought the more expensive model especially for the wireless; so I'm going to have to call tech support to see if they can get that set up for me. I'll update if I get that resolved.

Again, the instructions are obtuse and if I hadn't had experience with other projectors, I would have given up; but otherwise it was actually easy to set up with cables. Both cables supplied (USB and VGA -- it does not come with an HDMI cable) worked fine. But the software for the USB connection is funky and did not play well with my Mac Air. At first it said I needed to use the "disconnect" from the dropdown menu--and then that option disappeared the second time I turned it on.

The machine runs uncomfortably hot, making it not such a quick "put away" as advertised. I had to wait quite a while for it to cool down before I felt OK about putting it in its case. The case just barely fits in an "under the seat carry on" bag. I would think Epson would have paid attention to something like that for business users who obviously buy this lightweight projector for travel.

I bought it only because it is lightweight for traveling. And for the weight, it does a fine job and is fairly affordable.
