5These are fantastic. Super easy to set up
By Iceraider07
[[VIDEOID:614a21d5b5aaba84c05f2851f4a1466e]] These are fantastic. Super easy to set up, and the batteries last for a decent while. I have had these cameras up for almost 6 months. I just replaced the batteries on two of them a month ago, and then I replaced the batteries on the other two the other day. Considering the ease of moving them and the ease of the app, I'm ok with buying a pack of batteries once or twice a year. The app is crazy easy to use and you can just download any clip with the press of a button onto your phone.

Here's a video of two of my idiot friends dumping couches on my property as a practical joke over memorial day weekend. Caught Red Handed.

3Motion sensor seems to be the worst - which is one of the most crucial elements.
By Karl M
This is my first home surveillance system. I'm using these entirely out of doors around the perimeter of my house.

Pros: Size, picture quality (the nigh vision - WOW), easy enough to install.

Cons: Costly. Motion detection incredibly inconsistent (I have three in a straight line - sometimes all three will fire and track the person as they travel down the line of cameras, but usually, NOT which defeats the purpose of motion sensors. A fly will set it off.. a squirrel...but not the 5'11, 185 pound man walking by my house? Also, sometimes it will fire, and the person won't be in frame until 1/2 way through the 10 second recording loop - that makes zero sense). Even with a booster - one of the cameras always has 1 'bar' of connectivity and it's in a direct, unencumbered line with the booster just 25' feet away. That one will pixilate all the time). The software, and I'm in IT and have been developing training and user interfaces my entire career, is really difficult and cumbersome to use. There seems to be ZERO support - read NetGear's support blog before you make your decision - I based mine on reviews from things like PC Magazine and such - I should've checked the support blogs... Batteries are very expensive. They make a big deal about using particular types. two packages came with the unity that were completely depleted which was a pain and an added expense to get the system up.

Because this is the only system I've ever bought - and as such I don't have a lot perspective - and because the motion sensor is just so inconsistent - I'm not blown away.

5Awesome little cameras! Easy, easy set up!
By MAK
These cameras work great! The fact that I didn't have to hire someone to run wires through my attic was definitely the selling point for me! The set up is extremely easy! The cameras can be monitored from my phone and my computer at home. When the motion detectors go off, it sends an alert to my phone. I can pull the cameras up on my phone and watch live videos of what's going on around my house (however, this does drain the batteries every time you do this) or watch the saved videos in the library, which are 10 second clips or what set the motion detectors off. The only down side I've seen so far, is if you set the videos to best quality, it really seems to drain the batteries. Also, the one by my back door goes off all day long because of the doggie door and the dogs going in and out (2 weeks and the batteries already need to be changed). However, I haven't had a chance to really try to adjust the motion sensor controls. The other cameras still have about 70% - 80% battery life left at this point, which I think is better than it sounds, because after setting them up the first day, that was about the percentage of battery life. So I'm thinking they will last at least 4 - 6 months? Overall, I'm very, very pleased and would definitely recommend them!
