5It works.
By Diamond Dave
It takes a little DisplayPort on a Mac Mini and provides an interface to connect a standard VGA monitor to it. I used it to connect our Mac Mini to an older 19 inch LCD monitor (5x4 aspect ratio) and didn't have any issues.

I bought the genuine Apple model since I had read a few reviews about the off-brand units not quite measuring up as far as quality and compatibility were concerned. Knowing Apple, I don't find it hard to believe,

Otherwise, this little adapter works fine and I can't find any reason not to recommend it to others.

4Apple quality
By Waimea Canuck
Good quality adaptor. After 5 or so years I did have to replace the church one and it was a bit frustrating as it was the last thing we expected when we ran into problems with our overhead projector being run from the MacBook for powerpoint. It took a bunch of trial and error but that's life. And then Apple changes everything and if we update the computer we have to have all new different dongles!

5If your going to Drive and Extended display, this is the “Must Have” as your first adaptor.
By J Miller
I chew threw these very fast. They work great. If one fails usually the Apple store will replace it for free. Sometimes the Thunderbolt end will become intermittent. If you are going to use the external thunderbolt port to drive a monitor the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter would be the first one to buy, then go from there to DVI or HDMI, what ever your needs are but the VGA is a must. Make sure it is a True Apple product as this is and you will not have problems. The knock off products are not reliable for the VGA as much as other formats.
