How SquareTrade plans work

Call 1-866-374-9939 from 6am to 10pm PST, 365 days a year.

We'll ship you a replacement device (same or newer model depending on availability). You'll also receive a pre-paid shipping label to send your damaged device back to us (must have a valid credit card on file in order to receive a replacement).

Return your damaged device within 30 days from reception (otherwise you will be charged the price of the replacement).

  • Upon purchase, you'll receive an email. This will be your official purchase confirmation. To give you the best customer experience possible, SquareTrade may also contact you about your purchase by telephone.
  • Please read the terms and conditions (see the link at the bottom of the page).
  • Start Date: Plan begins on the date your device is delivered, or on the plan purchase date if you already have your device and are purchasing a plan within 30 days of device purchase, and is inclusive of the manufacturer's warranty period. I almost always buy this protection as it has paid for itself over and over, especially with the kindles. I have never had a problem getting a replacement and have been told that kindles generally only last 2 years as the batteries wear out. I have had other problems with my kindles and have always been taken care of immediately.

2Vague information

Purchased this extended plan for my new Amazon/Kindle Fire HD/8, which has been working great. Did receive notice from Square trade that plan was in place. However, requested several times for them to send specific details about start and stop date of warranty of my particular contract etc.
They sent several links which I tried, but was all same general material
Wanted to print out specifice for my files. Was told they didn't "snail mail" these contracts so as to be able to charge lesser price, and I get that. But again, I want to have hard copy of contract to print out myself. Appears they are unwilling to do this via email for some reason, which makes me wonder if I ever had to make a claim on the covered device, would that be a difficult process also. Weary of all the back and forth on this issue.

I had to use this plan after my kid dropped my tablet on the floor. It started out as a tiny spiderweb crack, then suddenly went down the entire screen. I called the number and the lady on the line was very helpful, and told me exactly what I needed to do. She told me I would be receiving a replacement tablet in two days but I got it the next day (even though it was a Sunday). All I had to do after that was send the old tablet back.
